Job Description:

As a Cardiac Nurse, you will specialize in the care of patients with heart conditions, working primarily in hospital settings, including cardiac emergency units and intensive care units (ICUs). This Cardiac Nurse job requires expertise in managing acute cardiac events, administering advanced cardiac life support, and monitoring patients with complex cardiovascular conditions. The ideal candidate for this Cardiac Nurse job will have strong clinical skills in cardiology, the ability to work under pressure, and experience in emergency or critical care settings.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program. 
  • Current RN licensure in the state of employment; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required; Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification preferred. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a cardiac or critical care setting; experience in cardiac emergency units or ICUs is highly desirable. 
  • Strong clinical skills in cardiology and emergency care. 
  • Ability to interpret and respond to complex cardiac monitoring data (e.g., EKGs, telemetry). 
  • Proficiency in administering medications and treatments for cardiac patients, including emergency interventions. 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams. 
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform tasks requiring physical exertion in a fast-paced environment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized nursing care to patients with acute and chronic cardiac conditions in a hospital setting. 
  • Monitor cardiac patients using advanced monitoring equipment, including telemetry and EKGs, and respond to any changes in patient condition. 
  • Administer medications and interventions for cardiac emergencies, including defibrillation, IV medications, and other life-saving procedures. 
  • Assist in cardiac procedures and surgeries, such as catheterizations, angioplasties, and bypass surgeries. 
  • Educate patients and families on managing cardiac conditions, including post-procedural care and lifestyle changes. 
  • Document patient care activities and maintain accurate records in electronic health systems. 
  • Collaborate with physicians, cardiologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for cardiac patients. 
  • Participate in continuing education and training in cardiac care and emergency nursing. 

Pay Rate:

$38 - $55 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
