Job Description:

The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting in the preparation and delivery of nutritious meals to patients and residents in healthcare settings, such as hospitals, nursing homes, and long-term care facilities. This role involves working closely with dietary staff to ensure that meals are prepared according to prescribed dietary guidelines and delivered in a timely manner. The ideal candidate for this dietary aide job will have a strong commitment to food safety, attention to detail, and a passion for helping others. Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Prior experience in a food service or healthcare setting is preferred but not required. 
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team. 
  • Good communication and customer service skills. 
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 30 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks related to food preparation. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of meals according to dietary guidelines and individual patient needs. 
  • Serve meals to patients and residents, ensuring that food is delivered at the correct temperature and in an appealing manner. 
  • Assist with meal setup and cleanup, including washing dishes and sanitizing food preparation areas. 
  • Follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures to ensure a safe and clean environment. 
  • Help maintain inventory of food supplies and report any shortages to the dietary manager. 
  • Assist in the delivery of special dietary items or snacks as needed. 
  • Interact with patients and residents in a friendly and respectful manner, addressing any dietary concerns or preferences. 
  • Collaborate with the dietary team to ensure that all meals are prepared and served on time. 

Pay Rate:

$12 - $18 per hour, depending on experience and location.
