Job Description:

As a Dialysis Nurse, you will provide specialized care to patients undergoing dialysis treatment for chronic kidney disease or acute renal failure. This dialysis nurse job involves operating dialysis machines, monitoring patient vitals, and ensuring the safe and effective delivery of dialysis treatments. You will work closely with nephrologists, patients, and their families to manage and support patients through their treatment regimen. The ideal candidate will have experience in renal care, strong clinical skills, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program. 
  • Current RN licensure in the state of employment; Certification in Nephrology Nursing (CNN) preferred or required. 
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in dialysis or related fields; experience with hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis preferred. 
  • Proficiency in operating dialysis machines and related equipment. 
  • Strong understanding of renal disease and dialysis treatment protocols. 
  • Excellent communication and patient care skills. 
  • Ability to handle emergencies and make quick decisions. 
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform physical tasks related to patient care. 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform and monitor dialysis treatments for patients with chronic or acute renal failure. 
  • Prepare and set up dialysis machines, including proper sterilization and maintenance. 
  • Assess and monitor patients’ vital signs, fluid levels, and overall health during treatments. 
  • Administer medications and manage patient care as prescribed by nephrologists. 
  • Educate patients and their families about dialysis procedures, dietary requirements, and lifestyle adjustments. 
  • Document patient care and treatment details accurately in electronic health records. 
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and adjust care plans based on patient needs. 
  • Respond to and manage any complications or emergencies that arise during dialysis treatments. 

Pay Rate:

$32 - $45 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
