Job Description:

As a neonatal nurse, you will be responsible for the care and management of newborn infants, particularly those with medical complications. This neonatal nurse job involves providing specialized nursing care to premature and critically ill newborns in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The ideal candidate for this neonatal nurse job will have extensive experience in neonatal care, a compassionate nature, and the ability to work in high-pressure environments. This position requires close collaboration with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal care for the infants.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program. 
  • Current RN licensure in the state of employment; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in neonatal or pediatric nursing; NICU experience preferred. 
  • Strong clinical skills in neonatal care. 
  • Ability to operate specialized medical equipment (e.g., ventilators, incubators). 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and handle high-stress situations. 
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform physical tasks associated with patient care. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive care to newborns with medical complications, including preterm infants and those with life-threatening conditions. 
  • Monitor the health and progress of newborns, including vital signs, weight, and development. 
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians. 
  • Operate and maintain specialized medical equipment used in the NICU. 
  • Educate and support parents and families regarding their newborn’s condition and care requirements. 
  • Document patient care activities accurately in electronic health records. 
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans for each infant. 
  • Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with neonatal care best practices. 

Pay Rate:

$32 - $50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
