Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program; School Nurse Certification (where applicable).Â
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of employment; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.Â
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in pediatric, community health, or school nursing.Â
- Strong clinical assessment skills.Â
- Knowledge of child development and public health principles.Â
- Proficiency in health education and counseling.Â
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.Â
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, school staff, and healthcare providers.Â
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with patient care, including standing for long periods, lifting, and responding to emergencies.Â
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct healthcare services to students, including first aid, emergency care, and management of chronic health conditions.Â
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and ensure proper documentation.Â
- Conduct health screenings, such as vision, hearing, and scoliosis checks, and refer students for further evaluation as needed.Â
- Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans (IHPs) for students with special healthcare needs.Â
- Educate students, staff, and parents on health-related topics, including hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.Â
- Monitor and manage communicable diseases within the school, following public health guidelines.Â
- Maintain accurate and confidential student health records.Â
- Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care and address health concerns.Â
- Participate in school health policy development and contribute to a healthy and safe school environment.Â
Pay Rate:
$25 - $35 per hour, depending on experience and location.
