Job Description:

The Surgical Technician plays a crucial role in the operating room, assisting surgeons and other medical professionals during surgeries and procedures. As a surgical tech, you will be responsible for ensuring that the operating room is sterile, preparing surgical instruments and supplies, and providing support to the surgical team throughout the operation. The role of a surgical technician job requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited surgical technology program. 
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred. 
  • Previous experience in a surgical setting preferred. 
  • Knowledge of surgical instruments, techniques, and procedures. 
  • Ability to maintain sterile techniques and infection control practices. 
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure. 
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity. 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain the sterile field for surgical procedures. 
  • Sterilize and organize surgical instruments and supplies. 
  • Assist with the positioning of patients on the operating table. 
  • Hand instruments and supplies to surgeons and other medical staff during procedures. 
  • Monitor and maintain the sterile field throughout the procedure. 
  • Manage and document surgical counts of instruments, sponges, and needles. 
  • Assist with patient draping and surgical site preparation. 
  • Follow protocols for the disposal of contaminated materials and the cleaning of the operating room post-surgery. 
  • Provide support and care to patients before, during, and after surgery.

Pay Rate:

Annual Salary range between $50,000 and $70,000 annually depending on experience and location.
